2012 Chateau Mallard Les Rousseaux

I am not a fan of 2012 Bordeaux. Year was hard on the region, and results are spotty. But, cheap bastard I am, was seduced by Costco. Couple of weeks ago, I saw a box (nicely made presentation box made of wood, with transparent plastic in the front) with four bottles of Bordeaux for $30. Bought it. And enjoyed it.

Chateaux Mallard Les Rousseaux. Never hear of it before, as well as about any of other producers from this box. Nice wine. A little bit light for Bordeaux, with pronounced nose and taste of black currant and blackberry. A remote subtle note of old leather. No sugar in the taste at all. Enjoyed it with chicken pizza. It would go quite well with any white meat, veal or some fish, like tuna, mahi-mahi or swordfish.
So, you can get good 2012 Bordeaux. Confirmed again: guys at Costco know how to select wine.
